Two ballistic missiles were intercepted over the Mecca and Medina regions on Saturday, according to Saudi Arabia's Civil Defense.
Fragments from the downed weapons fell in three distinct areas: Jeddah, Taif, and Rabigh.
The interceptions followed a Houthi claim that they struck multiple Saudi targets that same day. The group said it hit a Saudi Aramco facility in Yanbu, the Rabigh oil refinery, and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.
Yahya Saree, the military spokesperson for the Houthis, identified three additional sites in the attack package. He listed King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Najran airport, and an air base in Khamis Mushait.
Yemen’s National Commission for Human Rights condemned the Saudi actions on the ground in Sanaa. The commission described an incident in the Asr neighborhood as a massacre and noted damage to a cement factory in the Hamdan district.
The United States State Department updated its travel advisory for Israel on Friday. The notice warned of a heightened threat from Iran-backed Houthi terrorists and the potential for rapid regional escalation. The overall advisory level for Israel remained at Level 3, which urges reconsideration of travel.
