The Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative collected exactly $30,000 for local Scouting programs and scholarships.
The organization held the event at the Sand Hill Scout Reservation in Brooksville. It was an annual breakfast with a Halloween theme. Contributions from WREC employees, members, community leaders, and business partners reached the target amount.
The funds will cover costs for youths to join Scouting activities. This includes leadership development, outdoor adventures, and educational experiences. The money also pays for scholarships for participants who might not otherwise afford to take part.
WREC General Manager David Lambert attended the event. He said the breakfast featured local Scouts speaking about their personal experiences. Lambert noted that hearing these stories showed the impact Scouting has on their lives.
Lambert stated that Scouting helps shape character, leadership abilities, and future success for young people. He described listening to the Scouts as truly inspiring.
He added that the raised money will allow more youths to participate in programs that build confidence and teach responsibility. Lambert said these opportunities encourage service and create lifelong benefits. WREC expressed pride in supporting an organization making a meaningful impact on the community.
