Ukraine Satellite Speeds Surge to 400 km/h After Throttling Ends
Zelenskyy confirms full connectivity restoration, citing improved defense against jet-powered drones.

Ukrainian satellite connections jumped to 400 kilometers per hour by the morning of October 24, ending days of throttled speeds that hampered military operations. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the restoration of full bandwidth for Starlink and Starshield systems in a video address, stating that the network now operates at the levels required for frontline defense.
The speed increase followed a period of disruption where equipment ran at 130 to 161 kilometers per hour in several sectors along the line of contact. Zelenskyy said the slowdown interfered with logistics and limited the use of drones. He described the recovery as very important for protecting Ukraine from jet-powered Shahed drones. "Now we have the speed we need," he said.
Military officials verified the improvement before the president's statement. Defense forces and Ministry of Defence experts recorded both systems operating above 161 kilometers per hour overnight. The Ministry later issued an official confirmation that it was registering speeds above 400 kilometers per hour with a stable connection.
The technical fix arrived after political debate over the restrictions. On October 16, US President Donald Trump claimed the White House had not been involved in limiting Ukraine's use of the system. Separately, The Telegraph reported that SpaceX CEO Elon Musk had approached Trump with the idea of restricting the bandwidth of the satellite networks used by the Ukrainian military.
Zelenskyy thanked those who helped restore communications. The announcement confirms the end of the speed caps that had affected military connectivity for several days. The Ministry of Defence continues to monitor the stability of the restored links.
