Fans watching the Feb. 14, 2027, Super Bowl LXI will see Jay-Z take the stage at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The rapper has never performed at the Super Bowl halftime slot, making this his first time leading the event. The announcement was made Monday by the NFL, Apple Music, and the artist's management team.
Jay-Z's company, Roc Nation, has produced the halftime show for the past eight years. The firm recently signed a five-year contract extension that keeps it in charge of the production through 2029. Since taking over in 2019, the shows have featured more hip-hop and rap acts. Last year's performance at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara showcased Bad Bunny, with Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin as guests.
Inglewood hosted a notable halftime show in 2022. That performance featured Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar. Cameo appearances were made by 50 Cent and Anderson .Paak. Other recent headliners include Kendrick Lamar and SZA in 2025, Usher in 2024, and Rihanna in 2023.
Jay-Z is currently on tour to mark the 30th anniversary of his debut album, "Reasonable Doubt," and the 25th anniversary of "The Blueprint." The tour began with three shows at Yankee Stadium in July. He then played two dates in London and one in Paris during September.
The rapper concluded his fall schedule with two performances at SoFi Stadium on Oct. 23 and Oct. 24. Those recent shows at the same venue where the Super Bowl will be held serve as a direct rehearsal for his upcoming halftime set. The Super Bowl LXI game is scheduled for Feb. 14, 2027.
