Florida women's basketball players shot 11 three-pointers and outscored Flagler College by more than 50 points in Gainesville on Wednesday.
The Gators secured a 107-54 victory in their final exhibition game before the regular season begins. The win ended the team's pre-season schedule with a decisive margin over the St. Augustine visitors.
Coach Tammi Reiss, in her first year leading the program, cited the large roster turnover as the primary reason for the exhibition. Thirteen new players joined the roster this year, and Reiss said the team needed the game day environment to establish their on-court rhythm.
Kiyomi McMiller led all scorers with 27 points. Vanessa Harris recorded a double-double, finishing with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Harris also contributed steals and blocks, which Reiss noted helped the team during defensive struggles in the second half. Jade Weathersby added 13 points, and Moriah Murray combined with McMiller for six of the team's three-pointers.
Reiss expressed satisfaction with the team's unselfish play and offensive rebounding, though she noted several areas requiring cleanup. The Gators will begin their official competitive season next week against their first conference opponent.
