Fi has reduced the price of its satellite-connected pet trackers by 30 percent, bringing the cost of the Fi Ultra GPS unit down to $209.30. The sale runs through October 25 and requires shoppers to enter the code SCARY at checkout.

The promotion covers several models in the company's lineup. The Fi Ultra is the primary device featured in the offer. At $209.30, the price matches the amount consumers paid when the product first launched.

The tracker is designed for pets in areas with weak cellular signal. It uses a combination of LTE, GPS, and Starlink satellite coverage to locate a dog or cat. The device carries an IP68 rating, making it fully waterproof in saltwater. Battery life can last up to five days, depending on the animal's activity level.

Fi states that this is the first dog tracker to combine T-Satellite, Starlink, GPS, and LTE. The unit clips to a collar or harness. It can play sounds and vibrate to alert the pet to its location.

The Verge tested the device in a remote area of South Carolina earlier this year. The team found the tracking precise but noted that location updates occurred every two to three minutes. This interval may be too slow for fast-moving dogs. Battery life dropped to about two days when Lost Mode was activated. The device is large, making it a better fit for larger breeds.

A subscription is mandatory to use the tracking features. Fi offers plans for six months, one year, or two years. The one-year plan costs $99 for the first year and $189 for subsequent years. The service is available only in the United States, with no satellite coverage in Alaska.

The discount ends on October 25. Buyers who miss the window will pay the standard price for the hardware, plus the cost of the required service plan.
