Razer has released the Basilisk V4 Pro, a refreshed gaming mouse priced at $169.99 that features a 200-hour battery life and a dedicated button for AI prompts. The device launches in black and white, with an optional Mouse Dock V2 Pro available for an additional $69.99.

This model marks the first update to the Basilisk line in two years. The previous revision, the Basilisk V3 Pro 35K, arrived in October 2024. The new V4 Pro retains the familiar right-handed contour, bright RGB lighting, and multiple control buttons found in earlier versions.

The hardware includes Razer's Focus Pro 50K optical sensor, which supports polling rates up to 8,000 Hz. Connectivity is handled via 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth, or a USB-C cable. The mouse uses fourth-generation optical switches rated for more than 100 million clicks.

A primary change involves the control layout. The mouse now has 12 programmable buttons. A new button beside the left click button switches profiles by default. A third thumb button, positioned in front of the existing pair, opens Razer's AI prompt.

Sarah Jacobsson Purewal, senior editor at Tom's Hardware, reviewed the device and recommended it for players seeking more functionality than a basic shooter mouse. She noted that the new design serves users who do not require a button-heavy interface.

The reviewer identified ergonomic issues with the new button placement. The profile button sits at the front edge of the 5.02-inch device, making it difficult to press comfortably for users with medium-sized hands. The AI button, sized like the other thumb controls, pushes the existing cluster back. This leaves the first thumb button too far away to reach easily, despite the ability to remap functions.

The black version of the mouse weighs 3.53 ounces, or 100 grams. This is a reduction of nearly half an ounce compared to the 3.95-ounce V3 Pro 35K. While still not ultralight, the device is lighter than its predecessor.

Battery performance has improved. The mouse provides 200 hours of runtime at 1,000 Hz over 2.4GHz wireless. At the maximum 8,000 Hz polling rate, battery life drops to 54 hours. The included tilt wheel offers two tactile modes with 24 and 48 steps, plus a free-spin mode that the reviewer found overly sensitive.

The package includes a USB-A dongle, an adapter, and a 6-foot braided cable. It does not include a HyperFlex cable or grip tape. The Mouse Dock V2 Pro features an integrated 8,000 Hz receiver and eight RGB zones, and it is compatible with several older Razer models.

Razer positions the Basilisk V4 Pro between the DeathAdder V4 Pro and the Naga V3 Pro. The review cites the feel, reduced weight, and battery life as strengths, while listing the thumb button layout, price, and size as drawbacks.
