Community organizations across the Alle-Kiski Valley have announced a slate of fundraising events scheduled for the coming weeks.

The Highlands High School Varsity Marching Band will host a bingo game on Nov. 8 at the Lower Burrell Veterans of Foreign Wars. The event is set for 2 p.m., with doors opening at noon. Organizers charge $40 for tickets purchased in advance and $45 at the door. Participants can enter early bird draws, a basket raffle, and games of chance. Interested buyers can request tickets by emailing bingo4hvbb@gmail.com.

A separate effort is underway to support Jace Spears, a cancer patient living in the region. A spaghetti dinner fundraiser is planned for Nov. 7 at Generations House of Worship. The event relies on gift basket donations to generate revenue. The deadline to submit donations is Nov. 5. Shannon Crissman is coordinating the drive and can be reached at 724-524-1515 to arrange pickups.

Other local groups are organizing similar social gatherings. The Leechburg Elks will hold a Glow in the Dark bingo event on Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. The ticket price is $30, which covers food and a beverage. The program includes 16 regular games, three specials, and one jackpot game. Residents can secure tickets by contacting Josh Bottles at 724-882-2246.

The New Kensington Women of the Moose are hosting a harvest bingo on Nov. 8 at 1 p.m. Their lodge at 499 Reimer St. will open at 11:30 a.m. The $40 entry fee includes a light lunch. Players will compete in 15 regular games that pay $50, four specials that pay $75, and a final game with a $1,000 jackpot. Marianne is the point of contact for details at 412-337-0841.

Churches and fire departments are also hosting events to support local causes. The Ladies Christian Benevolent Association of Ford City will host a cash bash on Nov. 7 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Manor Township Volunteer Firehall in McGrann. The cost is $20 per person. Patricia Smerick sells tickets at 724-664-2222.

The Westmoreland County Marines Detachment will hold a Marine Corps birthday ball on Nov. 7 at the Lower Burrell VFW. The event features a buffet dinner, a silent auction, and dancing. The dress code is semiformal or military uniform. Active-duty Marines, veterans, reservists, Navy chaplains, and corpsmen are invited. Jim Walters handles reservations at 724-681-6293.
