Round three of the Borton Cup concluded on Saturday with decisive results across the region. Oamaru secured a dominant victory at St Kevin’s, while Union and Valley also claimed wins in their respective matches.

Combined Schools won the toss and elected to bat but managed only 45 runs in 18 overs. Sukhjinder Rana delivered a dominant bowling performance, claiming seven wickets for 17 runs from 8.3 overs. Oamaru chased the target easily, finishing on 48 for two in just 12 overs to win by eight wickets.

In another match, Glenavy won the toss and batted first against Valley. Despite an unbeaten record prior to the game, Glenavy failed to build momentum, falling for 78 in 28 overs. Jack Cameron took three wickets for 16 runs, and Jake Matthews claimed three for 27. Campbell Fowler anchored the Valley chase with 47 runs off 32 balls. The team reached 79 for four in 14 overs, securing a six-wicket victory.

Union hosted Albion at the Don Field artificial pitch. Union won the toss and chose to bat first, posting a total of 281 for eight in 50 overs. Jeremiah Shields and Alex Wilson both scored 71, while Archie Chatfield contributed 44 and Sean Conlan added 25. Albion bowlers broke through in the final four overs, taking five wickets for 20 runs. Aneesh Bose took four wickets for 47 runs, including four wickets in the final 12 balls of the innings.

Albion struggled in response, collapsing to 98 for six after 22 overs. Jaden Dowling scored 26 and formed an 80-run partnership with Ravi Lalia to revive the chase. Lalia finished on 98, but both batters fell to end the hope. Bose added 29 more runs as Albion were bowled out for 227 in 42 overs. Mason James took three wickets for 40 runs for Union, while Toby Griffin claimed two for 32.

Liam Mavor took two wickets for 37 runs, and Conlan took two for 73. The results leave Union and Valley with strong records in the competition. Oamaru’s quick victory stands out as the most lopsided result of the day.
