Punta Gorda Airport will host a security enrollment event from November 17 to 20 to allow local residents to apply for expedited airport screening without traveling to nearby cities. The event takes place inside the Bailey Terminal at 28000 Airport Rd in Punta Gorda, Florida.
The airport is collaborating with IDEMIA, the official provider for the program since 2013. U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, and lawful permanent residents are eligible to participate. Applicants must bring proof of identity and citizenship to their in-person appointment.
The enrollment process involves fingerprinting and a photograph. Applicants pay a $79.75 application fee. Once approved, travelers receive a five-year membership and a Known Traveler Number within three to five days. This number must be added to flight bookings to activate the benefits.
The security program launched in October 2011 and currently serves over 200 U.S. airports. Members access dedicated screening lanes where they keep their shoes, belts, light jackets, and laptops in their bags. The agency reports that 99% of users spend less than 10 minutes in line.
Kaley Miller, the airport's Chief Marketing Officer, stated the goal is to let residents skip the trip to Fort Myers or Sarasota for enrollment. "We're excited to bring this pop-up service to our community, so residents can skip the trip to Fort Myers or Sarasota for enrollment," Miller said.
Travelers who cannot attend the local event may apply online and visit one of IDEMIA's more than 500 enrollment centers nationwide. The application portal is available at tsaenrollmentbyidemia.tsa.dhs.gov.
