Florida state law enforcement activated a Missing Child Spectrum Alert for Lucas Maresca, a 14-year-old resident of Spring Hill who was last seen in the 10500 block of Blythville Road at 11:30 p.m. on Sunday.
The boy has non-verbal autism and tends to run when approached. Investigators determined that Maresca pried open the lock on his bedroom window to exit the residence. He left on foot wearing a white polo shirt, gray shorts with a black stripe, and SpongeBob slippers.
Family members contacted law enforcement at 1:45 a.m. on Monday, initiating the search operation. Deputies described Maresca as a white male, 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 126 pounds, with brown hair and eyes. The Hernando County Sheriff's Office reported that inclement weather is currently impeding aerial search efforts.
Bloodhounds from the Pasco Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit are deployed on the scene. Officials have not confirmed the direction Maresca traveled after leaving the Blythville Road area. Local residents have been asked to inspect porches and sheds for the missing teen.
Anyone with information regarding Maresca's location is instructed to call 911 or contact the Hernando County Sheriff's Office directly at 352-754-6830.
