Four Hit in Shooting at Youth Football Final

One person died and three others were injured when a shooting erupted at a youth football championship game on Sunday night. The incident occurred at Madison Senior High School in Illinois.

The game began around 9:50 p.m. The event was unrelated to the school, according to authorities. The fourth victim died at the scene. The other three were transported to local hospitals.

The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis is leading the investigation. Lt. Andrew Pierson, the squad's public information officer, urged the public to provide any information. He noted that a single photo, short video, or minor detail could move the case forward.

"Someone in that crowd saw something, recorded something, or has heard something since. We are asking those people to come forward," Pierson said.

Madison School District canceled classes on Monday. Learning resumes on Wednesday. The district issued a statement describing itself as deeply saddened by the violence. It added that the incident affects the entire school community despite the game not being district-sponsored.
