Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the Yashar party, accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of admitting to economic failure on Saturday. The former IDF chief released a campaign video on X claiming the government's new financing plan puts 150 billion shekels in jeopardy. Eisenkot described the move as a confirmation that Netanyahu has destroyed the country's economy.
The controversy stems from an earlier interview with Channel 10. In that conversation, Netanyahu stated that Israel must prepare for an alternative economy. He cited the numerous international sanctions the state currently faces as the primary driver for this shift. The prime minister also addressed blockchain technology directly. He acknowledged that digital finance would certainly form part of the new strategy. Netanyahu said he had already requested a specific plan to be prepared for that purpose.
Eisenkot's video used those remarks as its core evidence. The clip opened with the warning that all of Israel's money is at risk. It then played the interview segments to highlight the prime minister's own words. The Yashar campaign labeled the proposed digital mechanism Bibicoin. Eisenkot concluded that this new financial tool would destroy Israel. The video argued that the alternative system would create an economy similar to North Korea and Iran.
The campaign claimed the shift would end high-tech growth, healthcare, and security. It warned that leaders must not let the government burn through national savings. The video raised a specific concern about global investment. It asked how international high-tech firms could invest in Israeli companies if digital currency were the only available method. A separate post on X added that this policy would result in international isolation. Eisenkot wrote that the resulting economic shakeup would cause a collapse in national security.
The exchange places the prime minister's contingency thinking at the center of the political debate. Eisenkot is using Netanyahu's own words to frame the issue. The Yashar leader argues that the need for backup plans is proof of current policy failure. The debate now centers on whether the government is preparing for sanctions or reacting to a loss of control.
The next step involves the government's response to the 150 billion shekel claim. Netanyahu has said a plan is already in preparation. Eisenkot will likely continue to use the Channel 10 interview clips in upcoming advertisements. The two leaders are positioning their parties around the definition of economic stability. The video remains live on X where it has generated the current political discussion.
