The Philadelphia Eagles sit at 2-6 with six consecutive losses, yet star running back Saquon Barkley says he intends to stay put. The team faces a pivotal moment as the trade deadline approaches on Nov. 10, with only one game remaining before the cutoff.
Barkley made his stance clear to reporters following Sunday night's 27-10 defeat by the Washington Commanders in Landover, Md. "I would love to be here," Barkley said. "I plan on being here. I don’t like the way the season is going, but I am not one of those guys that wants to jump ship."
He described his mindset as part of a solution rather than a flight from the problem. "I’d rather be a part of a solution to the problem and hopefully be a reason we fix it," he added. The comments come as the Eagles prepare to host the New York Giants, who lead the NFC East, next Sunday.
Barkley played limited snaps on Sunday due to ongoing hamstring and back issues. He finished with 14 touches for 54 rushing yards and a touchdown. His production has been modest this year. In his third season with Philadelphia, he has rushed for 274 yards on 56 carries for 4.9 yards per attempt. He also caught seven passes for 41 yards.
The roster has already seen movement. The Eagles traded offensive lineman Cam Jurgens to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for two draft picks. That transaction has fueled speculation about further personnel changes. Quarterback Jalen Hurts is also dealing with injuries, adding depth to the team's health concerns.
Barkley’s declaration anchors the narrative for the remaining weeks of the regular season. The Eagles currently hold the last place in their division, a position that has intensified scrutiny on the roster's stability.
